KBR Employees Give Back, Spread Holiday Cheer
Every year KBR employees give back during the holiday season. The tradition carried on this year with thousands of toys collected throughout our offices across the globe.
In Houston, nearly 43 shopping carts full of toys were donated to Operation Stocking Stuffer, which benefits nearly 10,000 families in the local Houston area. Members of the KBR global marketing and communications team donated their time to shop for $18,000 worth of toys with help from the Houston Fire Department.
"It is a privilege to work with the Houston Fire Department and be a part of Operation Stocking Stuffer, which touches so many lives in the Houston community," said Kayla Wilkinson, specialist, corporate communications. “The men and women with the Houston Fire Department always do a remarkable job organizing, planning and carrying out Operation Stocking Stuffer. This year is sure to be another great success!”
KBR’s Government Solutions Readiness and Sustainment (R&S) team collected $3,300 for needy children. Ruzanna Makaryan, senior manager of proposals, used the money to buy 442 toys. Ruzanna has been leading the effort in the R&S group for five years, with almost $13,000 raised for the R&S school supplies drive and toy drive. She collected donations from her team members in Texas, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and New York.
In Leatherhead, UK, KBR team members participated in a toy drive benefitting the Smile Sleigh charity, which supports women and children whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse. The organization helps individuals that are being supported by the domestic outreach services in Surrey. Gifts were collected, sorted and sent to the centers for the mothers and children to pick for their loved ones.
