KBR Pledges Continued Support to the UK Armed Forces

Publish date

KBR has a long and proud history of working with the public sector and government entities in the United Kingdom. As part of our commitment to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), including providing total support services for the Armed Forces, KBR, through its joint venture with Aspire Defence Limited, re-signed the UK's Armed Forces Covenant on March 21.

The Armed Forces Covenant is the UK's national pledge to support and protect active and former services members and their families. As one of the first companies to sign the Covenant in 2014, KBR reaffirmed its pledge and outlined its further commitment to supporting veterans, reservists, cadets and force families through a number of means such as providing careers support and providing flexible working opportunities with KBR.

The signing of the Covenant coincided with the Combat Stress "March in March" fundraising walk. Approximately 50 KBR employees completed a 10 mile walk to raise money for the local charity which provides vital support to veterans.

Additionally, on the same day that KBR signed the Covenant, KBR Aspire Defence was also announced as a Platinum Sponsor of the UK Armed Forces Day National Event which will be held on June 28-30 in Salisbury. The signing of the Covenant took place 100 days ahead of this year's national celebration in which the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and landmarks across the country to show support for current and former military service members.

Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, leader of Wiltshire Council, said, "We are delighted to be announcing KBR Aspire Defence as a Platinum Sponsor of Armed Forces Day National Event in Salisbury. I would like to thank KBR Aspire Defence for joining us as a key sponsor and for their support of this wonderful event which celebrates and says thank you to our armed forces for the vital role they perform in protecting us and our country."

Under the Project Allenby-Connaught contract with the MOD since 2006, KBR Aspire Defence builds and maintains single living, working and technical accommodation at British Army garrisons across Salisbury Plain Training Area and at Aldershot. The company is also delivering new infrastructure to support the Army Basing Programme, which involves the return of service personnel from Germany this summer and numerous unit moves within the UK.

In addition, KBR's relationship with the UK MOD and Armed Forces extends to some of the most austere and volatile locations in the Middle East. Major projects include Al Mussanah Airbase in Oman and Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan where the company provides first-class support services and maintenance at both locations.

"KBR is honored to continue to work closely with the UK Ministry of Defence as well as our chosen military charities, Combat Stress and Little Troopers," said Stuart Bradie, KBR President and CEO. "KBR employs a number of ex-military personnel and values the contribution they bring to the business. We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with Wiltshire Council to deliver this event which is our way of saying a huge 'thank you' to our Armed Forces for all that they do," he added.

KBR is proud to continue to deliver top-of-the-line support to military personnel and day-to-day operations for the men and women who keep our local communities and countries safe.
