To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, KBR is proud to sign the Women in Nuclear UK Industry Charter, reaffirming KBR’s commitment to gender equality and building on the Women in Defence Charter signed in 2019.

By signing the charter, KBR commits to supporting and improving the retention and progression of women within the nuclear sector, enhancing their individual and collective impact and reflecting the sector’s aspiration to see women represented and succeeding at all levels.

“Signing this charter reinforces our commitment to be amongst the very best at driving equality, inclusion and diversity and providing opportunities for women to succeed at all levels,” said Andrew Barrie, KBR President, Government Solutions EMEA.

“The charter is very clear on what it expects from organizations and in supporting it we are very clear on our own commitment to addressing gender balance and improving the representation of women in UK nuclear. We want to see people getting equal opportunities and moving forward.”

KBRs People Strategy, shaped directly by employees, aims to build its reputation as a great place to work and create conditions in which people can flourish. This includes its Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), each with a specific area of focus, acting as outlets for employees to connect, network and build relationships, while also focusing on professional development and social activism.

KBR's long standing ASPIRE ERG group is committed to the development of women leaders at KBR and the promotion of a culture of inclusion. Membership is not exclusive to women; ASPIRE believes that engaging men is critical not to just advancing women leaders, but to build a business environment where all employees can thrive. Members from across the globe aim to build that inclusive culture through research, leadership development and best practices sharing. Our commitment to this charter reinforces our commitment to that aim.

KBR has a growing presence in the UK Nuclear sector. In May 2019 it joined four world leading partner organizations to transform the Sellafield Nuclear site in the North West of England, home to one of the most complex portfolios of construction and infrastructure projects in the world. The Programme and Project Partners (PPP) model is set to transform project delivery at the site and create a lasting legacy, through long-term partnerships – transforming it into a world leader in environmental remediation.

KBR was also recently awarded a significant contract to support delivery of a major UK naval infrastructure program through the Nuclear Technical Support Provider. In partnership with Assystem and Doosan Babcock, and operating under the name of KAD Nuclear, the team will provide integrated program management to extend the design life of key facilities and maintain operations.
