KBR employees are going green and made an extra effort to celebrate the company’s long-standing sustainability commitment on World Environment Day. Offices around the globe took part by encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment and held their own unique events to spread the message of conservation.

At KBR’s corporate headquarters in Houston, KBR young professionals in IMPACT and KBR’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) team hosted an environmental expo with interactive informational booths. Representatives from KBR’s Technology business unit showcased some of KBR’s green technologies and sustainability efforts that reduce our environmental footprint while delivering next generation solutions for the future. IMPACT members exhibited One Ocean, KBR’s global environmental initiative aimed at reducing plastics in our oceans and educating individuals on how to properly dispose of plastics, and members collected plastic grocery bags to be recycled in support of this initiative.

Several Houston-area environmental charities were also on hand to talk to employees about their environmental initiatives and how to get more involved in local environmental efforts.

In the United Kingdom, KBR’s Consulting and Energy Solutions teams combined their efforts to prepare a number of environmental presentations and displays for employees. The Leatherhead office also made a commitment to limit the use of plastics for the day to combat improper disposal of single use plastics.

Technical and strategy presentations were given to employees on a number of topics including new plastic recycling technologies, overviews of the One Ocean program and how KBR is well-positioned to utilize green technologies in the future. Several ‘green powered’ cars were also displayed on site including two Tesla vehicles, the Toyota Hydrogen Powered Mirai and a hydrogen-powered Met Police squad car.

At KBR’s India Technology Center (ITC) in Gurgaon and Pune, employees celebrated World Environment Day with a drawing competition and were encouraged to bring desk plants for the office while wearing green to show their support for protecting the environment. Employees also shared their personal stories of how making small, proactive contributions such as planting trees around their homes, riding public transportation and conserving water can help make a difference.

“The thoughts and actions by our employees to protect and create awareness about the environment are commendable,” said Subas Das, Director, KBR ITC. “Every act matters and it helps to remind ourselves to preserve natural resources and control air pollution.”

“At KBR, we recognize and support World Environment Day and although we have made good progress on expanding our sustainability commitment, progress and awareness there is more to do,” said Stuart Bradie, KBR President and CEO. “I want to thank all KBR employees around the globe for all they do for the communities and the environment in which we work and live.”
