KBR Sponsors Future of STEM Scholars Initiative

Publish date

KBR is pleased to partner with the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI), the chemical industry’s collaborative equity, diversity, and inclusion initiative aimed at creating pathways for more underrepresented groups to enter and succeed in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers in the chemical industry.

KBR will sponsor two scholars over the next four years, joining a growing list of organizations that have raised more than $35 million to support over 700 students.  FOSSI is a U.S.-based scholarship program that provides incoming college freshmen $40,000 scholarships and connects them to leadership development, mentoring, and internship opportunities at sponsoring companies. FOSSI creates lasting and meaningful relationships between students and sponsors, helping to create a diverse pipeline of future workforce talent.

“We are proud to support FOSSI’s mission to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors pursuing STEM degrees at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The program helps to reduce financial barriers for historically under-represented groups and aligns with KBR's dedication to ESG principles, fostering the next generation of STEM professionals and contributing positively to our communities,” said Jay Ibrahim, President, KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions.

“FOSSI brings together the industry’s collective strength to make a significant impact on the future of the chemical industry. We are thrilled to have KBR’s support in this important initiative and look forward to working with their team to create opportunities and pathways for success for these deserving scholars,” said Jim Fitterling, Chair & CEO of Dow and FOSSI Advisory Board Chair.
