KBR Sponsors Army Ten Miler, Supports U.S. Army in Washington, DC

Publish date

KBR was proud to once again serve as the co-lead sponsor, alongside the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA), of the Army Ten-Miler (ATM) race in Washington, DC earlier this month. The ATM is the third largest ten mile race in the U.S. and this year 35,000 runners from around the world took their place at the starting line to run this historic event.

KBR's Byron Bright, Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Mark Milley, and KBR's Tom Lampley participate on the reviewing stand with Senior Army officials at the ATM.

All proceeds from the ATM go to the U.S. Army's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program. The MWR program directly supports soldiers and their families worldwide by providing a variety of family, morale, welfare and recreation programs and services to enrich soldiers' and their families' lives culturally and creatively.

KBR and subsidiary KBRwyle work closely with the Army, Department of State and Department of Defense all of which have an active interest in the ATM and participate in great numbers.

KBR was honored for their eleven years as lead sponsor of the Army Ten Miler. KBR's Byron Bright and Ella Studer accepted the award on behalf of KBR.

At the race, KBR provided water stations, pre-packaged meal boxes, reunion areas where family and friends link up with runners, and the famous Hooah-Tent Zone where post-race activity showcases U.S. military commands, groups and installations from around the world, their mission, and their "Army Spirit." KBR also provided bratwursts imported from Wisconsin that were cooked and served by Arlington's Rockland's BBQ restaurant.

Throughout the day the KBR logo could be seen on runner bags and shirts as well as volunteer shirts.

Byron Bright, SVP Government Services Americas, took part by signaling the first wave of runners at the Pentagon where the start line was located. Bright was also on stage when the race ended to award first place to the fastest female runner alongside the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Mark Milley.

In the week leading up to the ATM, KBR and KBRwyle also participated in the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, DC. The event served as an opportunity for KBR to showcase to the Army community the company's added global government services capabilities with the recent formation of KBRwyle and addition of the heritage Wyle and Honeywell Technology Solutions (HTSI) groups. During the event, KBR presented a $30,000 check to Homes for Our Troops, an organization that builds specially adapted homes for disabled veterans.

KBR presents a donation to former Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, General (Retired) Richard Cody, Chairman of Homes for Our Troops.

KBR takes great pride in partnering with organizations like AUSA, Homes for Our Troops, and the Army Ten Miler to support soldiers and veterans from across the military.
