KBR was honored to receive the Tier 1 Vanguard Global Impact Award from the International Stability Operations Association (ISOA) last week. ISOA is an organization that strategically engages both government and private sectors in support of stability and peace operations throughout the world. 

ISOA selected KBR for the Vanguard award based on KBR’s humanitarian support of displaced Afghans and the company’s support of stability efforts in Europe after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

"KBR demonstrates the best of stability operations with its extraordinary efforts providing humanitarian support to tens of thousands of displaced Afghan nationals and its effective support of the U.S. Army under LOGCAP.”

Under Operation Allies Welcome in 2021-2022, KBR rapidly developed vital infrastructure across nine sites in the U.S. and Europe to support displaced Afghans. Not only did KBR provide basic food, shelter and living assistance, but also halal meal options, internet access, medical and dental services, transportation, laundry, morale and recreation services, and cultural assistance to help transition Afghans to life in the U.S. KBR continued its humanitarian efforts by providing base life support services to Afghan guests in support of the U.S. government’s Enduring Welcome program. Supporting reception, staging, and onward movement, KBR quickly transformed parking lots into thriving communities by constructing life support areas to provide critical services to Afghan guests in less than three months. KBR provided engineering, mobilization, and installation, including building and operating dining facilities and a gymnasium as well as multi-purpose, administrative and medical facilities.

In early 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine, KBR provided a crisis action planning team in Kaiserslautern, Germany to support the U.S. Army under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP). Within days, KBR’s team established basic life support services such as food, shelter, and transportation at key sites in Eastern Europe to support the U.S. and allied nations’ stability efforts across Europe. The team constructed approximately 50 contingency sites in the first year of the conflict and provided services like airfield operations that were critical to Ukraine receiving U.S. aid.  

“Our LOGCAP team has been providing mission-critical support in Europe for decades,” said KBR Vice President of Operations Mike Flanagan. “So when the Ukraine conflict began, our team was able to leverage our European workforce, extensive supply chain, and existing relationships with host nation partners to provide immediate stability support to the U.S. Army in Europe.”

KBR continues to work closely with the U.S. government and host nations to provide full-service life support for stability efforts across Europe.

KBR Vice President of Operations Mike Flanagan accepted the award on KBR’s behalf at ISOA’s awards dinner in Washington, D.C. on June 20.
