KBR contributing £900m+ to UK economy
A new report has demonstrated KBR’s increasing presence in the UK and significant contribution to the country’s economic growth through its people and projects.
The independently compiled report by Oxford Economics highlights KBR’s on-going growth in the UK, delivering work in the defence, government, space, nuclear and wider energy and security sectors.
With over 4,000 direct employees working across 18 office locations, and on additional project sites, KBR is estimated to be supporting nearly 13,000 jobs across the UK economy through its supply chain and wage-induced spending. KBR is highly focused on supporting early career development, employing close to 250 graduates and apprentices.
KBR has a strong history of delivering large scale programmes and complex energy projects. Across the defence, infrastructure and nuclear sectors KBR is providing high-quality, innovative, enduring technology and capabilities every day for our customers, including Aspire Defence, which helps manage the estate for a third of the British Army; RAF pilot training through its Affinity Joint Venture; and contributing to the high performance of the Royal Navy through infrastructure support at its home base in Portsmouth. It is also shaping a safe future for generations to come around one the world’s largest nuclear sites through its Programme and Project Partners work with Sellafield.
A key priority for KBR in the UK is also supporting the country’s sustainability and security ambitions – pursuing the development of new energy technologies, systems, and processes—in line with the UK’s net zero ambitions.
Since 2017, KBR has been studying and engineering clean hydrogen production facilities, a critical driver of the energy transition. In the UK, the team recently delivered early project planning of a 1 GW hydrogen facility.
Alongside 11 other organisations, KBR-owned Frazer-Nash Consultancy is also providing services to the UK Government to support its goal of powering the UK with entirely clean electricity by 2035 and have net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
KBR is proud of the work it delivers in and from the UK. Read or download the full report online here.
