KBR employees around the world continue to make meaningful contributions to the communities in which they live and work. Recently a number of employees have done so through physical activities by taking part in fundraising and volunteer initiatives that require active participation.

KBR's Houston based cycling team participates annually in the BP MS150 and this year the 38 member team raised over $47,000 for multiple sclerosis research and support for those affected by the disease. "This event requires disciplined physical training and a serious level of commitment to raise donations," said team co-captain Frank Richter. "With 13,000 riders in the event, it's rather competitive but our team's main goal is to raise awareness and give back to this excellent cause." The KBR team has participated in the 180 mile ride since its inception in 1985 and the past two years the team has earned the Silver Safety Award, recognizing teams that meet certain safety requirements.

Houston based employees also gave their time to support the annual Houston Texans Kids Triathlon, the largest event of its kind in the world with more than 3,000 participants ages six through fifteen years old. KBR sponsored the swimming portion of the race and participants donned swim caps with the KBR logo and pool safety signs were posted around the event. KBR employees assisted in setting up the day before the event, helping event organizers prepare for a safe and fun event. Health and safety are at the center of KBR's company culture and we are proud to be part of an event that goes hand-in-hand with those values.

KBR employees based in the Leatherhead, UK office recently participated in the Try Tag Rugby Corporate Challenge. Hosted near the 2012 Olympic park in London, the competition raised over £3,400 for the Dallaglio RugbyWorks Foundation, a long-term skills development program aimed at helping teenagers receive education, training and employment opportunities. With representatives from all of KBR's business segments, the team finished as runners up in the Plate Competition.

Elsewhere in the UK, a group of KBR volunteers completed the UK's toughest 10km run and shoot in hazardous conditions 10km run and shoot challenge at E.J. Churchill's shooting range in Buckingham. Fundraising efforts were dedicated to ABF The Soldiers' Charity, a philanthropic group established in 1944 focused on supporting and improving the lives of soldiers, veterans and their families. The event was run by nearly 90 competitors who braved the freezing conditions for a worthy cause.

KBR's culture values health, environment and service and it extends beyond the workplace to home and community life. Armed with these ideals, our employees never fail to do what's best for the community and one another.
