Defence Sustainability Conference 2020

19 Jan 2021 - 20 Jan 2021

***11 Nov 2020 – Defence Sustainability Briefing***

Sponsored and hosted by KBR this Defence Sustainability Conference is designed to showcase the extensive work currently underway across the MOD and Industry to optimise operational advantage and support the target of Net Zero 50 (NZ50). The conference will be a ‘virtual’ event streamed out of KBR’s offices in Leatherhead, Surrey, enabling participants to engage in the presentations and workshops remotely on-line.

The conference will highlight the need for clear policy developments and provide a platform for innovative ideas and projects being delivered in support of a more sustainable future. Ben Sawford, VP of Global Advisory Consulting at KBR will headline on Day One presenting his session on energy transition insights with global case studies and how these approaches can translate and be applied in the defence environment. KBR have recently worked closely with the MOD to write a white paper on the ‘Roadmap for Sustainable Defence Support’.

There will be presentations from some of the key stakeholders within the MOD, across the supply chain and industry. The event is designed to spark opportunities for developing best practice and collaboration, as well as creating a pan-sector network of stakeholders to help raise awareness of opportunities to challenge the current ways of working. The event will cover a range of relevant topics including MOD Policy & Future Direction, Infrastructure and Estates, Air & Space, Marine Innovation & Investment, and Deployed & Operations.

Keynote speeches on the day will be presented from Lieutenant General Richard Nugee CB CVO CBE, Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy Lead and Lieutenant General Richard Wardlaw OBE, Chief Defence Logistics and Support, who will provide his vision on a Sustainable Defence operating model.

Prior to the conference in January 2021, on 11th November 2020 there will be a Defence Sustainability Briefing from Lieutenant General Richard Nugee. On day two of the conference there will be a series of workshops and presentations, more details will follow.
