- The $650M Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade Project is a key infrastructure project that will transform one of Brisbane’s most significant transport routes into a vibrant urban corridor with the Brisbane River as its centrepiece.
- The project involves widening 3.3 km of road from 4 to 6 lanes and upgrading associated river parklands, walkways and cycle paths, to deliver increased road capacity and improved safety for all road users.
- The project also involves designing an innovative 1.2 km long retaining wall structure to support the 6-lane road corridor with cantilevered separate cycle and pedestrian paths over the Brisbane River.
- KBR, as one of the main design partners, provided design services for structural, civil, drainage, pavement, Intelligent Transport Systems and electrical engineering elements. It is also providing urban design, architectural lighting, temporary traffic management and construction phase support.
