KBRwyle Supports Soldiers and Families with Army Ten-Miler Sponsorship

KBRwyle, KBR's U.S. Government Services business, joined the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) again this year on Sunday, October 8, as co-lead sponsor of the Army Ten-Miler (ATM) in Washington, D.C. Since 2005, KBR has been a major sponsor of the annual race, which directly benefits soldiers and their families.

The KBRwyle race team was ready to go in any kind of weather.

The weekend began Saturday with a runner's expo and pasta dinner. At the expo, KBRwyle was thrilled to donate our expo exhibit space to Fisher House and present them a check to support their mission to provide military families housing that is close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. At a reception before the dinner, KBRwyle was honored to receive an award from AUSA commemorating our longtime sponsorship of the race.

On Sunday, KBRwyle runners gathered in the early morning hours near the Pentagon to prepare for the race, one of the Ten-Miler's hottest and most humid on record. Joined by supporters and KBR co-workers on hand for race-day activities, runners posed for photos before heading to the start line where Byron Bright and Army Chief of Staff General Mark A. Milley shared duties announcing the beginning of each race wave.

During the course of the day, KBRwyle provided free event shuttles, water stations, pre-packaged meal boxes, and reunion areas for the event's runners to link up with family and friends. KBRwyle also sponsored the Hooah-Tent Zone where attendees had the chance to enjoy the race day experience meeting soldiers, listening to music, and savoring food including a KBRwyle tent fan favorite -Wisconsin bratwursts.

Despite the high temperatures many runners persevered, making it to the finish line and our KBRwyle Hooah-Tent Zone to hear winners announced.

The Wisconsin bratwursts in the KBRwyle tent are a race favorite.

"We faced some grueling race conditions," said KBRwyle runner Elizabeth Fahrner. "In fact, when I crossed the start line, it was raining and unseasonably hot. However, knowing my KBRwyle teammates were also running motivated me to finish the course!"

All proceeds from the ATM go to the U.S. Army's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program. The MWR program directly supports soldiers and their families by providing a variety of family, morale, welfare and recreation programs and services to enrich soldiers' and their families' lives culturally and creatively.
