As a global company, KBR's reach extends to countries around the globe.  We aim to provide value to the communities in which we live and work no matter where they are in the world. KBR has supported the U.S. Army and various Multinational forces in the Balkans region continuously since 1992 and we are exceptionally proud of our role in providing local employment opportunities that have contributed to economic growth in the region.

As a result of those long-standing efforts, KBR was recently recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation for our positive impact on the local economy from the Kosovo cities of Ferizaj and Gjilan.  KBR employs thousands of local residents from these cities and the surrounding region at Camp Bondsteel, where we have long provided base operations support for the U.S. military. The ceremony took place at the City Hall of Ferizaj and a number of current and former KBR employees, U.S. Military groups, local officials and community members were present to show their appreciation.  KBR has been and continues to be one of the largest employers in the region for over 15 years and many of those employed by KBR are people from Gjilan and Ferizaj.

KBR has not only helped alleviate the high unemployment rate in the region but also improved the economic welfare of the local communities.  Mr. Rexhep Kadriu, Deputy Mayor of Gjilan said, "KBR was and remains the company that changed the economic and social situation for our families".

KBR offers job training and mentoring for the multitude of talented individuals employed at Camp Bondsteel and that has resulted in a local culture that emphasizes work and education.  In addition, on- the-job-training at KBR has allowed for other companies to come into the region and hire a talented workface which helps drive the economy and the professional careers of many in the region.   Many former KBR employees from Camp Bondsteel have gone on to open their own businesses and are better prepared to succeed after working for the company at the base.

"The experience that people have gained by working for KBR will have a positive impact on their homeland in Ferizaj," said Muharrem Svarqa, Mayor of Ferizaj.

Andrew Pringle, KBR's President, Government Services, accepted the award on behalf of the Company and said, "KBR is grateful to receive this award and we are pleased to work in the great country of Kosovo."  Pringle continued, "I am amazed by the significant changes I have seen in Kosovo over the past 16 years.  It is a sign that Kosovo is moving forward and we are proud of the part we played and look forward to many more years of work in the region."
