With the ability to detect and eliminate incoming rocketsartillery, and mortar rounds in the air before hitting their ground targets, the Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (C-RAM) system provides early warning and vital protection to our U.S. military.

From the beginning of the C-RAM program in 2005, KBR has been a key support provider with exceptional technical expertise, experience, and performance in all aspects of the C-RAM system-of-systems.

“C-RAM is a lifesaving force multiplier to our deployed forces and helps to protect our soldiers daily,” said Keith Nichols, Director of Force Protection for KBR Government Solutions U.S. “Our KBR team plays an integral part in the ever-evolving C-RAM system-of-systems as the program responds to constantly changing threats and maintains a team of dedicated employees downrange in support of U.S. service members overseas.”

Since its inception, C-RAM units supported on the ground by KBR have provided more than 6,600 early warnings during rocket and mortar attacks, and have intercepted more than 300 in-flight rockets and mortars, precluding lethal effects on the ground.

On Sept. 27, 2018, KBR was awarded a three year $42 million contract to provide system sustainment, integration, and analysis for critical C-RAM weapon, sensor, and command and control systems for the U.S. Army.

As part of this contract, KBR performs research, development, deployment and sustainment for multiple C-RAM systems, including Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control (FAAD C2); Air and Missile Defense Planning and Control System (AMDPCS); C-RAM Intercept Land-based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS); Ku-band Radio Frequency System (KuRFS) Radar; and the RAM Warn system.

Since the contract award, KBR has expanded its support of the C-RAM program. The Army’s C-RAM Project Directorate has continued to enhance the force protection stance of forward-based U.S. military men and women with the deployment of multiple Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) capabilities. KBR has supported development, testing, quality assurance, safety and logistics activities, and has sent teams of employees to assist with the initial installation and integration, system checkout, training, and sustainment for these CUAS capabilities. As the threat continues to evolve and expand, KBR remains committed to supporting the warfighter whenever and wherever required.

Drawing upon its more than 35 years of continuous air and missile defense support, KBR’s expertise includes full spectrum life cycle programmatic support; sustainment, systems and weapons systems engineering; test and evaluation; integration and technical analysis; and modeling and simulation. It supports several military critical air and missile defense systems in addition to the C-RAM, including PATRIOT, Cruise Missile Defense Systems (CMDS) and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System (THAAD).
