KBR's Government Services Americas team at Isa Airbase, Bahrain continually proves that team work is a great catalyst to achieving Zero Harm. As of October 19, 2016 the project site has achieved over three million hours, or 34 months, without a lost time incident. This accomplishment is especially significant considering the team averages 299 employees that come from many cultures and countries from around the world all while working in a challenging operating environment.

KBR's Isa team performs various duties on site including transportation, food service and maintenance operations. The wide variety of duties does not stop the team from working as One KBR and maintaining a standard set of safety procedures.

Recent notable achievements include the transportation of over 362,000 passengers to several locations in Bahrain including the Naval Support Facility which is over 23 miles one way. Driving the highways in Bahrain poses major traffic concerns and defensive driving is a key element in keeping everyone safe.

The team has also processed over 15,500 service work orders, providing services as simple as changing a light bulb to performing repairs on a generator in 130 (Fahrenheit) degree heat. In addition, the project has also served over 1.3 million meals in the last year. It is a challenge to keep any major kitchen running without incident with the number of hazards involved from chopping, frying, boiling, serving, dish washing, and cleaning where an incident could happen in a blink of an eye and yet the KBR team remains injury free.

The team performs everyday operations with a high standard of safety protocols at the forefront of everything they do. KBR employees often go above and beyond by working outside normal operations and still maintaining the same methodical processes to ensure a safe work place. Recently, employees were tasked with a generator replacement and electrical consolidation task order and team members and leaders from across many annexes worked together to ensure successful completion of this complex project without injury or accident.
The safety culture on site has been embraced by employees in part because of the incident prevention programs in place. Employees can bring any safety issues or near miss concerns forward for resolution which involves team members in every step to create a safer environment.

Speaking to the success of the safety record on site, Roger Singleton, Project General Manager said, "To me, safety means caring about people and doing the right thing. I see this happening throughout our KBR projects and through employee involvement on the job. I see leaders listening to concerns of all employees and everyone acting to make improvements."

Each ISA Airbase employee received a certificate of appreciation for their part in achieving the three million hours without a lost time injury. In recognition of this milestone, employees were served lunch and had the opportunity to dunk a few of the managers in the dunk tank – a favorite activity of employees on site.
