KBR now offers Hydro-PRT℠, an innovative and advanced plastics recycling technology, in alliance with Mura Technology Ltd.

Hydro-PRT is a sustainability-focused technology that recycles end-of-life plastic, including rigid plastics and thin plastic packaging such as plastic shopping bags and food wrap, which would otherwise be combusted, sent to landfills, or leaked into the environment. Hydro-PRT converts these mixed plastics into traditional oil (liquids) and gas, that can be further refined and upgraded to produce virgin polymers and chemicals – completing the waste plastic circulatory loop.

This process chemically recycles waste plastic through a process known as hydrothermal upgrading. With over 10 years of development, this is a one of a kind platform that’s proven at a large demo scale and, shortly, will be commercially demonstrated.

Francis Tsang, Senior Director Plastics Recycling

Francis Tsang is responsible for managing the activities related to process licensing, basic engineering, proprietary equipment, and technical services as related to Hydro-PRT and the Mura Technology alliance. Prior to his role in plastics recycling, Francis held senior leadership roles within chemical technology licensing, technical services, and mergers and acquisitions.

Aashish Gaurav, Senior Technology Manager, Plastics Recycling

Based in Canada, Aashish is responsible for business development for the plastics recycling technology. He has seven years of R&D and process engineering engagements in circular economy, ethylene and petrochemicals, fuel-additives and reactor design. Aashish holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from University of Waterloo and is proficient in chemical process development, technology due-diligence and techno-economic analysis.
