The specifications of the lubricating oils have changed considerably owing to improved engine designs and changing environmental legislation.
The demand for improving the automotive fuel and the scarce availability of lube bearing crudes has necessitated the Hydroprocessing based lube technologies.
The Hydroprocessing route, although expensive, offers greater flexibility in the choice of crude for lube production. The Hydroprocessing route will result in higher yields and high VI base oil with better oxidation stability and color compared to conventional processes.
