Volunteer Organizations

KBR employees are active participants in supporting educational and community outreach programs as well as charitable causes. There are a number of volunteer organizations established throughout KBR to help employees in their efforts. These include:

  • The KBR Volunteer Council in Houston and Birmingham provide volunteer support for selected charities and non-profit organizations in their communities. Council members frequently provide critical manpower for major charity events and the brainpower to ensure those events are successful. With their strong commitment to service, KBR employees in Houston participated in more than 30 different activities and events in 2011, contributing more than 11,00 volunteer hours to programs. Birmingham volunteers participated in more than a dozen events and contributed hundreds of hours, including the KBR 5K benefitting Kid One. In addition, KBR volunteers around the globe continue to give back through volunteerism providing valuable service to organizations committed to making communities stronger.

  • IMPACT is an executive-sponsored program which helps in the professional development of employees with less than seven years of experience. While primarily intended to motivate, retain and develop these younger professionals, the program also introduces its members to the benefits of volunteering. There are 13 IMPACT groups on five different continents around the world, developing the leadership skills of young employees both in the workplace and in the community as a whole. Globally, IMPACT members plan and organize the KBR Green Week initiatives each June. Houston's IMPACT members plan and manage the KBR Charity Golf Tournament each fall, where charities have been recipients of over $1,300,000 in funds since 2007.

  • The KBR-Discover Engineering Committee promotes activities intended to introduce and spur the interest of young students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). KBR-DEC not only provides the starting point for the next generation of engineers and scientists, it does so in an exciting, captivating way. The program is supported financially by KBR and through the time and effort of more than 150 employee volunteers. DEC volunteers serve as judges for science fairs, participate in mentoring and career days, and help select the KBR Science Teacher of the Year for the Houston Independent School District.
