KBR today announced that Valero Energy Corporation (Valero) has successfully started up advanced reformate splitters at three of its United States refineries. The three Mobile Source Air Toxic (MSAT) II Benzene Concentration Units – located at Valero's Port Arthur and Sunray, Texas; and Memphis, Tennessee refineries – utilize KBR’s advanced reformate splitter Dividing Wall Column (DWC) tower designs. A fourth unit is located at Valero’s St. Charles refinery in Norco, Louisiana and will be commissioned later this year.

Building Group's Renovation Project Receives a Community Appearance Award

Megaprojects: Yas lsland Mixed-Use Complex

A leisure and entertainment destination, Yas Island has gotten off to a fast start. This 25-sq-kilometer island, 20 km from the Abu Dhabi city center and 20 km east of Saadiyat Island, is on the way to becoming a dynamic and lush recreational setting. It is being developed by Aldar Properties, a real estate development, management and investment company owned by major Abu Dhabi institutions and individual investors. Benoys is the master-plan consultant. Halcrow is the infrastructure consultant, and KBR is the program manager.

In April 2010, BE&K/Turner was named General Contractor of the Year by the Charleston Chapter of the American Subcontractors Association of the Carolinas (ASAC). A joint venture of KBR's Building Group and Turner Construction Company (known as BE&K/Turner) was formally recognized as General Contractor of the Year by the Charleston Chapter of the American Subcontractors Association of the Carolinas (ASAC) at its 31st annual awards banquet on Monday, June 28, 2010. The Building Group's Kenny Anderson, construction manager, accepted the ASA General Contractor of the Year Award on the team's behalf.

KBR's Building Group subsidiary ranked fifth on the Orlando Business Journal's 2010 list of Central Florida's Largest National Construction Companies/General Contractors. KBR was recently featured as a Corporate Partner in Restore Americas Estuaries quarterly publication. KBR's history in global water resource management and coastal engineering projects began in 1936. KBR was recently awarded two safety excellence awards during the Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) Contractor's Safety Excellence Awards event. KBR's Chalmette Refining site won the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Heavy Construction Award, which recognizes large jobsites that worked over 100,000 hours in 2008. KBR also received an award for its injury-free performance at this site in 2008.

KBR has been ranked 234 overall and second in the Engineering/Construction industry by Fortune magazine in its annual "Top 500 U.S. Corporations" edition, published on May 4. KBR received its ranking based on approximately $11.6 billion in revenue in 2008.

KBR Ranked #19 in the Houston Chronicle's Top 100 Companies

KBR was ranked 19th in the Houston Chronicle's list of the top 100 publicly traded companies located in Houston. KBR was also ranked 45th in market value, 19th in largest company (by revenue) and 31st in earnings per share growth. The list is based on several factors including total revenue, annual revenue growth and one-year total return. The list was published in the May 17 edition of the Houston Chronicle.

BE&K Building Group Wins Award for SYSCO Distribution Center

The BE&K Building has received another award - its fourth win to date - for SYSCO's Operations and Distribution Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. BE&K's Southern Company Generation Plant wins ABC Excellence Award

BE&K's Southern Company Generation Plant Franklin project (Franklin III), Smiths Station, Ala., has taken top honors this year, winning an ABC Excellence Award at the state level in the Industrial Category for projects in the $25M - $99M range. The contract spanned over 17 months achieving mechanical completion over two weeks ahead of schedule.
