KBR draws on a large reserve of talented engineers and project managers with the experience needed to meet the specialized demands of large-scale mining developments, which require all the infrastructure of a town—from civil works, housing, airstrips, power and water, to mine-specific facilities such as conveyors, rail-lines and container terminals.
With the integration of Roberts and Schaefer, KBR’s capabilities have expanded to include engineering, procurement and construction services for coal, iron ore, and base metals bulk material handling and coal processing systems. With this addition, KBR adds to its current capabilities of conceptual and detailed design, environmental services, project risk management and feasibility studies. Through every stage of development, we have the people, resources and solutions to deliver the most complex mining projects, from pit-to-port and port-to-plant.
In Western Australia, KBR was commissioned to develop housing for workers at the Rio Tinto mine sites in the remote region of Pilbara. The award-winning housing project exceeded the five-star energy rating and was completed without a single lost-time injury. With every project, our aim is to build a healthier and safer world—meeting the needs of today’s communities, considering the needs of tomorrow.
