Olefins form the backbone of the petrochemicals market and no one is more familiar with petrochemical complexes than KBR, which has served as a leader in olefin plant design, construction and technology development for more than 50 years. Today, we continue to provide technology and build cost-effective plants for the production of ethylene, propylene, butadiene and other products using feedstock ranging from ethane to vacuum gas oils.
KBR has developed three technology options for olefin production designed around available feedstock and the desired olefins mix. The Selective Cracking Optimum Recovery (SCORE), SUPERFLEX and Advance Catalytic Olefins (ACO) technologies are bringing new levels of efficiency and cost-effectiveness to the olefin production industry.
SCORE serves as the basis for our olefins plant designs and combines decades of our olefins experience with an exclusive license agreement to utilize the latest ExxonMobil ethylene technology. This technology is the most advantageous of the steam cracking technologies which have served the industry since the initial commercialization of ethylene production. The result is a facility using cracking furnaces that provide the highest yields available coupled to a low capital cost, high-efficiency product recovery system based on low-pressure distillation tower designs. SCORE plants are highly reliable, require low maintenance costs and are environmentally compliant, striking the optimum balance between operating and capital costs.
